When I bought my Arab gelding 3 years ago, I was told that there had been a problem with trimming his feet and loading in a trailer. I dismissed this as a problem with the owner and took him anyway. When the time came for his first trim under my ownership, I called a Ferrier that I found in the paper and when he arrived, I told him what I knew of the problem. He didn't seem to be very concerned at first but after repeated attempts to pick up and hold Ash's feet and only trimming two, he informed me that the job could not be completed unless I tranquilized by horse. I do not like to handle my horses this way and he was let go. I found another shoer with pretty much the same results and I was ready to just give up altogether when I met Leslie Roach.
She introduced me to her Ferrier and when he come to my place to shoe my horses, Leslie and her daughter, Christina, accompanied him. Leslie had explained the problem to the Ferrier and when he picked up Ash's foot, Ash exploded. Leslie took Ash aside and worked with him while the shoer worked on my other horse, Scooted. By the time Ed was done with Scooted, Leslie was done with Ash and led him back into the barn to be trimmed. Both Ed and I were surprised when Ash simply stood and allowed his feet to be picked up and trimmed. Leslie did this in a short period of time and without force. I am so glad to have found Leslie that I will have no other trainer touch my horses. Leslie also worked with Ash on his trailer loading and had him loading and unloading repeatedly in just over and hour without force. (The previous owner tried over the span of an entire day to load him into a trailer and finally ended up riding him the 20 miles to his new home!) Leslie has the horses best interest in mind and her unique way of working with the horses produces awesome results in a very short amount of time. I wholeheartedly would recommend her to anyone looking for a trainer for an unbroken horse or a horse with problems, as she works with them on their level. If I had to use only one word to describe Leslie Roach it would be tough, but I would have to go with impressive! Thanks again Les.
