Page 1 of 4 Thank you to all of the wonderful horses and people we have had the pleasure to work with. We have learned something new and special from each of you. Here are some of the stories you have told us.

Les Roach is training our 10 year old horse and she is very good. She has gentle hands and trains, not breaks, horses with a loving care, gentle but firm voice and hands. She demands obedience but is never abusive or mean, gentle persuasion is her watch work and horses respond.

When I bought my Arab gelding 3 years ago, I was told that there had been a problem with trimming his feet and loading in a trailer. I dismissed this as a problem with the owner and took him anyway. When the time came for his first trim under my ownership, I called a Ferrier that I found in the paper and when he arrived, I told him what I knew of the problem. He didn't seem to be very concerned at first but after repeated attempts to pick up and hold Ash's feet and only trimming two, he informed me that the job could not be completed unless I tranquilized by horse. I do not like to handle my horses this way and he was let go. I found another shoer with pretty much the same results and I was ready to just give up altogether when I met Leslie Roach.

I discovered R&R New options Equine four years ago through, of all things, a newspaper article. I kept the article with me for several months, before finally calling to inquire about volunteer opportunities. Why the hesitation, you ask? Several years before, I was in a cross-country jumping accident where I was injured, and where the horse I was riding had to be put down. Bottom line, I was terrified of being hurt, and of hurting another horse again.
