1. My name is Karissa and I am 12 yeard old. I volunteer at R&R New Options, which resuces and rehabilitates horses. Since working with New Options I have learned to ride a horse not a saddle, and how to read a hores's body language. When I first began I was scared of the horses. When I rode I would stiffen up, and this would scare the horse which made me feel like I was falling off. Now I am not scared and I can canter without feeling like I am falling off. Working has taught me how to feed and groom a horse, and how to clean and grease a horse's foot. I have made a lot of new friends working, and I am closer with my sister. I am now more patient and a better person. When I am around the horses I feel happy, and my best fried is a chestnut Arabian.
2. Hi, I'm aelynn. I am 10 years old and I work for R&R New Options. Aunt Les has changed every rescued horse's life. Aunt Les has given me a horse. His name is Windy Bill. We feed, groom, water and love our rescued horses. I scoop poo, give them horse treats and give them attention. In my riding lessons, I learned about being relaxed and balanced. If we work together as a team, we can accomplish anything!

Since I have been volunteering I have learned how to groom a horse, clean and grease feet, how to ride a horse and not a saddle, and also how to respect and love horses. I am taking care of the horses. How we take care of them are filling up their water, feeding them, grooming them, cleaning their stalls and giving them love and attention. R&R New Options is the best!

Her name is Lagacy of Moncure or Mona for short. I love her a lot. I rode her very first trot on August 13, 2009. We've been learning how to steer without the reins. When I am out working I'm usually feeding and checking water. But my favorite thing to do is just hanging out with my 2nd family.
5. My namen is Alissal I am a volunteer for New Options. I started taking lessons about a year ago, and my life has changed ever since. I have earned a horse of my own, and arabian gelding hamed Ibn Shahad, Ibn for short. When I first started, I knew how to ride a saddle, not a horse. Aunt Les has taught me how to balance and communicate with the horse. I have learned that we are partners in a never ending dance. Ibn had difficulties of his own, but now we have worked through them together. I halwasy lived horses and wanted one of my own. I am learning the responsibility involved in taking card of them. Aunt Les is THE BEST teacher ever.
